Kang seems to have been getting nose deep into engine grease lately. Seems the jobs he's been getting back on Qo'noS have been repairing transports, various space craft and the like. I suppose being a technician and engineer isn't glorious and honorable enough unless on a battle cruiser. He clearly has a talent for it though.
Once he cleared up the weird we'd had in our engine based upon little more than Blue's complaints to diagnose it, I let him nose around my Cerulean Comet. I swear the thing has twice the maneuverability it had before, but Kang just smiles and says nothing when I ask him about it.
When asked about his new found talents, he insisted he'd had them all along, he just never brought them up around the family being unsure how they'd be received. He mentioned he was looking into a school to supplement his natural instincts, and he'd already sent in an application. His current employer is willing to pay for it if he'll contract for five years work after he's done with school, so he hasn't told Mama yet.
The school is on Qo'noS, so he'd be able to go home on weekends and holidays, unlike Kaith and I, who both are usually away from the planet and must plan in advance when we wish to go home. Given the cold reception I've been getting of late, the enthusiasm for me to visit has fallen to pretty much nil. Mama will likely be happy that she won't have to lose her last child to a career way away from home though.
Kang has made fast friends with Blue though, and the two of them have been enjoying beating the crap out of each other. Kang's picked up some of the unusual techniques with the bat'leth that Blue had originally shown me. He and I agreed we weren't going to tell Kaith where we learned it, and see how long it takes him to pick it up without our help. We're not expecting it to be very quickly, as Kaith is a bit of a traditionalist in his combat techniques.
