Kaith decided to join the Klingon military, Kang says Mama blames me for this. I suppose she should, given that I'm the one who gave him reasons to cancel out the excuses he'd come up with to not go there. Frankly, if it means he gets a chance to do something he's proud of and even enjoys, I can stand Mama being mad at me over it.

I'm not sure why Mama is so mad at me over it though, she had to have known how horribly he was doing at finding his place, and she had to realize he was the most Klingon like of her three children. If there was anyone better suited for military service, the list is pretty short and certainly doesn't include any of our family.

I haven't talked to Mama since then, but both Kaith and Kang have called me to tell me what was going on. Kang is relieved to see Kaith have some sort of drive that isn't beaten down by frustration and shame. Kaith is just happy to have found somewhere where he might actually have a fighting chance of moving forward based not upon his genetic background but instead upon his honor and deeds. He doesn't even realize Mama blames me for his doing it, she's hidden her disappointment and frustration over it. I suppose she sees how positively it's changed him, and he hasn't even made it out of basic training.

Travis finds it odd that I'd send my brother into the military, and it took a while of me trying to explain the violent urges our Klingon side gives us for him to understand that he needed an outlet, and a playing field that was less arbitrary than the private sector. Granted, the military probably will still play favorites with full bloods, but a half breed actually will be acknowledged for his accomplishments, and promoted along with all the rest.

Kang wants to visit me soon, and I'm trying to figure out the best time for him to do so given our current shipping schedule. There should be a lull in about a month, so I won't have to use any vacation time, and he could possibly get a chance to meet Blue too.
